12 Holiday Events You Don’t Want To Miss This 2020

Some of my favorite memories as a kid come from things I did with my family around the Holidays. There is just something magical about bright lights, brisk air and the smell of evergreen trees.

There is no doubt the holidays are going to feel a little different this year. So it is super important that you get a jump start on your itinerary and start making your holiday reservations now before they fill up!

Check out a list of the top 12 Holiday events you don’t want to miss this 2020 in Montgomery County, PA.

Phestival of Tree’s: Philly Expo Center- Oaks, PA

When: Friday November 27th– Sunday November 29th

This is a drive thru event at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. This three day event features 200 decorated holiday trees, Santa, a Hanukkah menorah, Kwanzaa imagery, a live Nativity scene and a light show.

Timed tickets are required. Proceeds benefit local animal shelters and rescues.

Winter Fest: Northern Star Farm- Trappe, PA

When: Saturday November 28th- December 20th 10AM-5PM

Every weekend throughout the Holiday season Northern Star Farm will offer a variety of Holiday activities for the whole family! Winter Fest offers a chance to meet live Reindeer, Horse Drawn Wagon Rides, Pony Rides, Christmas Craft Village, Little Farmer Playland, Candy Cane Pedal Cart Speedway, Gingerbread House Contest, and much more!

This event is free but requires prior registration.

Wild lights: Elmwood Park Zoo- Norristown, PA

When: November 20th– December 30th 5PM-9PM

Wild Lights, returns this holiday season with new lights and decorative attractions. Take a stroll through “Oh” Christmas Tree, and be surrounded by a twinkling forest. Or visit with the big cats in Trail of the Jaguar. Wild Lights also features live entertainment, unique animal encounters, performances, holiday music, and a chance to see Santa!

Narberth Dicken’s Festival: Narberth, Pa

When: Sunday December 6th 12-4PM

The Narberth Dickens Festival is a free family event held on the streets of downtown Narberth.  The town is transformed into 1840’s London, as all the characters from A Christmas Carol roam the streets for an afternoon.

There is entertainment and activities for all ages, holiday crafts, carolers, food, dancers, musicians, puppet shows, magicians, puppeteers, ice sculptors, a free Dickens-themed scavenger hunt for children, and much more.

Towanencin Township Holiday Lights Festival: Fischers Park- Harleysville, PA

 When: Saturday December 5th 4:30PM-8:30PM

Take a whimsical stroll through Fischer Park and enjoy the winter wonderland of lights and holiday cheer. There will be FREE refreshments from the local Boy Scout Troops and Horse drawn wagon/carriage rides. (Due to Covid-19 you must reserve a wagon or carriage ride time slot in advance.)

The Annual Tree Lighting will take place at 6PM. Featuring the Montgomery County Concert Band’s Tuba Quartet and Santa Claus.

They ask that all attendees wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

Discover Christmas: Glencairn Museum- Bryn Athyn, PA

When: November 27th-January 10th. Prior Reservation Required

Go back in time and discover the magic and wonder of the Glencairn Castle during Christmas time! The castle will be decorated for the holidays with poinsettias, wreaths, a Christmas tree with antique glass ornaments, and much more. The self guided tour will also display works of art illustrating the Christmas story (medieval to modern).

Children are invited to participate in the Nativity Seek-and-Find—and will be rewarded with a prize.

Prior Reservations are Required. 

Lights in the Village: Fairview Village Church- Eagleville, PA

When: Friday December 11th– Sunday December 13th 6PM-9PM

 Lights In the Village features thousands of twinkling lights, music, live characters, and numerous magical displays that are sure to delight the whole family! This year it will be enjoyed from the safety and warmth of your car! Music and narrations will be available through your mobile device. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Holiday Lights Display: Stoneleigh Natural Garden- Wayne, PA

When: Tuesday- Sunday in December

Explore the festive Tudor Revival-style mansion and enjoy the exquisite nature-inspired holiday decorations. Then head outdoors for a brisk stroll through the gardens and make sure to stop by the warm fire and enjoy toasting some s’mores and a cup of hot cocoa.

When: Tuesday-Saturday in December

Cairnwood Estates recreates the magic of the holidays from the turn of the century! Enjoy three floors of dazzling lights, a two-story Christmas tree and holiday cheer. Prior Reservations are required for private (socially distanced) guided Christmas Tours

18th Century Frost Fair: Pottsgrove Manor- Pottsgrove, PA

When: Saturday December 12th  12PM-6PM

Experience something special this holiday season and explore the grounds of Pottsgrove Manor! This unique 18th century winter market fair will include numerous historical themed vendors that will be selling food, holiday gifts and historical pieces.

This event is outdoors and registration is required.

Twas the Night Before Christmas Train: Colebrook Railroad Preservation- Boyertown, PA

When: November 7th– December 31st

The Colebrookdale Railroad brings the storybook magic of the season to life with a two-hour magical holiday expedition. On this ride your family will be able to enjoy the christmas lights as the Secret Valley rolls past, listen to christmas music, sip hot cocoa and hear the story ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”.  Rumor has it Santa himself might appear while your family is on board.

Holiday Garden Railway: Morris Arboretum

When: November 27th- December 31st

The Holiday Garden Railway is a magical time at Morris Arboretum. On Saturday and Sunday nights you will see model trains chug along a quarter-mile of tunnels, bridges under twinkling lighted trees and gardens.

Advanced tickets are required.
