5 Beautiful Gardens & Arboretums in Montgomery County | Hiking with Kiddos

It is no secret that Montgomery County has some of the most enchanted Gardens and Arboretums around the greater Philadelphia area. Whether you’re a hiker, art lover, avid gardener or just a mama trying to find something to do with her kiddos; Exploring these magical places is a great way to experience the beauty of nature. Not to mention, it is a great way to get in some exercise with the kiddos on a nice summer morning!

Here is a list of five beautiful gardens and arboretums in Montgomery County that are in full bloom this spring and summer.

1.) Jenkins Arboretum & Garden: Is a free outdoor garden and Arboretum. They are open everyday from 9AM-8PM. Jenkins offers an array of flowers and architectures featuring – Jenkins also offers story time for children in the garden each week.

Chanticleer: Is one of the most romantic, imaginative and exciting public gardens in America. With its 35 acres of gardens it is sure to please. When visiting Chanticleer you must visit the teacup garden, Asian woods and pond garden.

Merion Botanical Park: Is a 13 acre park that provides a diverse habitat of Trees, wildlife, butterflies, flowers, and fairy house. The park also offers fun Botanical signs throughout the park with QR codes you can scan that will provide more detailed information about the species within the Park.

Stoneleigh: a natural garden: Is a beautiful celebration of nature. With its soaring trees, expansive vistas and dynamic display of native plants. Stoneleigh offers over a mile of walking paths through the estate gardens and is free of charge.

Welkinweir: Is known for its Weeping Copper Beech but also offers a children’s garden, water garden a ruined barn and an elegant estate. Welkinweir is free but only open Monday-Friday so please plan your visit accordingly.
